With classes and school facilities remaining closed through the end of the school year – and the continually-evolving nature of the COVID-19 outbreak – we are disappointed, but deem it necessary, to announce that the 2020 Hoops Classic has been cancelled. We are thankful that we were able to provide team t-shirts for each student in early March, commemorating selection to their schools team. If your student has not received your Hoops Classic team shirt, please contact your schools coordinator or coach.

HOOPS CLASSIC CANCELLATION OPTIONS

Hoops Classic is part of Tournament of Champions and was created to support Tustin Youth Sports and Tustin Public Schools Foundation. In an effort to streamline the next-step process, please complete the form located here: https://ocyouthsports.org/tustin/covid-19-next-steps/.

Please note: you will need to fill out one form per registered player.

This form will allow us to process your refund request or verify a donation (see below options). Due to the high volume of requests, we ask that you please allow six (6) weeks for processing.

Option #1
Donate your registration fees to support Tustin Youth Sports Scholarship Fund. The Hoops Classic event is a fundraiser for local schools.

Option #2
The Hoops Classic registration fee can be refunded $20. ($30 less expenses already incurred. We hope you understand that a refund of $20 is fair under the current circumstances.)

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope that you stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Tustin Youth Sports

Tustin Youth Sports Association supports local Tustin schools and the Tustin Public Schools Foundations by organizing and hosting sports-based tournament fundraisers throughout the school year.

Hi Parents,

We regret to inform you that the 2020 Hoops Classic basketball tournament has been postponed to a later date in the school year. Due to developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we are following and implementing the newly-issued guidelines from Governor Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to postpone large gatherings that include 250 people. The health and safety of our players, parents and staff is our top priority.

With this being a rapidly-evolving situation, a new date for the Hoops Classic hasn’t been officially set yet, but the event has not been cancelled. Our plan at this time is to reschedule it for a weekend in May.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncertain times. We look forward to hosting the event with you later this spring.

Sincerely,

OC Youth Sports

To our valued community members,

There is no higher priority to our entire Tustin Youth Sports Family than the safety of our players, parents and staff. We are continuing to monitor updates on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak to stay on top of this evolving situation. According to the most recent information from the CDC, for most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be low.

We want to assure you that Tustin Youth Sports • Tournament of Champions, SoCal Elite Sports, Tustin Public Schools Foundation and all of our partners are following the lead of Tustin Unified School District, the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and the Orange County Health Care Agency in response to the outbreak. The OC Health Care Agency shares the below information on their website:

  • Risk of infection to the public in Orange County is believed to be low.
  • At this time, there is no recommendation to cancel business or social events.
  • All residents should practice good health hygiene which includes washing your hands, staying home if you are sick, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve (not hands).

Consistent with TUSD guidelines, we ask that parents keep their athletes home if they are sick.
